Buddy's Barber Shop, the owner, Buddy, has had his Barber Shop known for the town of Sweet Home, "The Head Hunter." Buddy's customers give Buddy quite a time coming to Buddy's Barber Shop. Buddy asks his customers how they are doing and quite a few say different things to the Barber. One particular customer answered Buddy by saying, "I'm doing fine, but I will get over it."

Buddy came to Sweet Home, OR, with his parents, from Wright City, OK, at nine years old. From Sweet Home, OR, back to Wright City, OK, at twelve years old, Buddy returned back to Sweet Home at nineteen, graduated from Eugene Barber Shop, married in Sweet Home, and bought Buddy's Shop in 1971.

One of the locals, Ron Watts of Sweet Home, OR, during a trim at Buddy's Barber Shop, Watts and Buddy discuss other interests in common. Both join the "Snow-Birds" in Quartsite, AR, around mid-January in a camp-site, set-aside just for campers from all over come to spend for vacations. Buddy's family and Watts' family have vacationed nine to ten years together at Quartsite. Buddy explains the "Snow-Birds" camping site is given this name because tourists vacation this area like migrating birds north to south for warmer weather. This campsite is located out in the desert of Arizona in a little town where camp trailers of all kinds vacation. During this seasonal vacation, Buddy exclaims some camp trailers on price range to the top of one million dollars.

Back when Buddy opened "The Head Hunter" Barber Shop, customers offered Buddy tokens for hairs-cuts. Tokens such as car license plates were collected and his special at the door is a hat rack.

Levy's Operater Sweet Home's Library

At a glance:
What: Voter's vote no to pass Sweet Home Library's funding
Why: Voters confused concerning city's budget to support library funding
How: Voters pass no vote, closes library

Voters don't realize the library's funding does not come from the Sweet Home City budget with their tax paying dollars. Sweet Home Librarian, Sandi Leonard, states, "The library's funding has its own four year levy for its own funding." In Sweet Home, OR, the Sweet Home Library has its "own library level", as Leonard explains relies on four year levy to fund the library. The Sweet Home city voting ballot concerning library funding has city voters confused in how this is worded on the ballot.

In 2003, voters voted no against funding for the city library. This is caused by confusion on the city voting ballot how the ballot is read about the library's funding. This resulted in the library being closed for four months in 2003. After four months closure, Sweet Home held special election to re-elect library pass for levy approval funding. The library was re-opened. The levy will be needed to pass soon, again, at the next election.

Leonard has worked part-time at the city library for thirteen years. Leonard listened from one teenager stating, "I love coming to the library. I've come here since I was a little boy". Leonard notes the Sweet Home Library is over thirty years old . The Library had moved originally from City Hall across the street, then built over an old walnut grove.

Heather Horn, an instructor who works at LBCC, visited the library commented, " It's a valuable treasure for the community of Sweet Home. The staff are really friendly." The security camera's were able to identify the theft and lead to arrest of person in question. theft

Connie Moyer, the manager at the discount store stated On Saturday, November , 2009, "I have worked here for thirty two years. I have had trusted customers that I'd known for twenty years come in and then shop-lift from me. You just never know. All walks of life have been arrested." Some shop-lifters may not be caught at first. Store employees watch carefully from camera's and mirrors sat high towards ceilings of the store.

Alicia Moyer, an employee at Santiam Descount Variety store had seen a shop-lifter leave outside the store with stolen items. Circle K is located between Speedy Market west of town and Lake Side Market east of town.

Speedy Market is located west of Sweet Home with Sweet Home High School on Long Street directly behind the store. When clerk, Lacey Peterson is working she immediately calls police to report kids shop-lifting. She states most items stolen are candy and alcohol. She states, "Certain customers I know who are short on money I will loan them a dollar or so. I loan them money instead of them stealing from the store. She has worked at Speedy Market for almost a year and loves her job.

Lake Side Market leaving east of Sweet Home has changed hands in the last three years. Jesse Grewal states has had only a few shop-lifters in this time. The check-out counter is right by the only door in the front as people come in or out of the store. He watches the front door closely. Every one was welcomed at LBCC to enjoy the fantastic performance including the Ashland's Shakespeare Festival professional actors, John Pribye and Eddie Lopez. Their unique presentation displayed intense acting skills on stage at LBCC with an appreciated audience. Pribye and Lopez in their performance of "Two Soldiers" created scenes concerning a young boy in his voyage to find his older brother. The main character was the boy, played by Lopez, and Pribye illustrated seven other characters.

The 2009 School Visit Program was an invitation from Peter Jensen, who is an English Instructor/Writing faculty member holding classes at LBCC. Jensen's invitation to out-reach interests to those who also share the same intriguing work from Ashland Festival performances on stage, were greatly amazed by the skilled performers. Jensen commented, " Really well only with two characters to do." Jensen also added this presentation was very powerful.

Pribye stated after the scenes in corresponding with the LBCC audience, "It is also the audiences that makes the live plays a great experience." Lopez portrayed the young boy, who did not have a name, just considered, boy, in the play. Pribye performed seven characters throughout the entire performance with great skills, bringing each character to life without any confusion.

Pribye could turn each transition from scene to scene of each character with excellence performance as he took on the different roles. The play was centered around the boy setting out to find his older brother who had left their farm to join the Army. Pearl Harbor had been attacked by the Japanese and the brother felt he should follow the steps of his father and grandfather who had been in the Army before him. The is when the boy had determined he would find his older brother. The boy could not understand why his brother was leaving their farm. The night after the brother left, boy planned he would find his bother. The play followed as boy sneaked out from their family farm to travel far away to Memphis, Tennessee to find his brother. In actually, troops are needed to stay in America to protect Americans. It was too close of 9-11, when the United States was under attack, that America needed our troops from overseas to be in the States to protect America's own people.

The United States should have American citizens protected first being in the States. Our troops should be stationed in the States, and oversea countries should take care of their own countries. Americans have long been getting lost for caring for their own people. What is more important than protecting Americans own citizens of the United States of American? This is all great to be concerned about our men and women overseas, but little is thought of the horrible deaths.

Does America really need to put highly dangerous weapons, costly war expenses, to go overseas to other countries to kill other people in the name for other countries independence. These persons, of the article in the Commuter, Treats for troops, and other Americans need to be aware Americans die in a most slaughters and murderous deaths in the most violent ways. The other countries' people experience the same. Not only that, but to see American soldiers overseas in countries who have been fighting each other for centuries and probable always will have wars against each other, means very little to American lives.

What about the United States of America being protected? Are Americans going to have to suffer violent all over again in the States, if 9-11 becomes another attack, worse to worse than 9-11?

The article; Treats for troops, in the LBCC Commuter, credited to Alethea Skinner, has good intentions for this article. People don't stop to ask why are Americans even over in Iraq. Doesn't it really matter to Americans they are mostly in the dark concerning what actually is taking place in warfare. To be stated, "Supporting the troops is more than slapping a sticker on the back of your car!", quoted from the LBCC Commuter, November 12, 2009, page seven, from Director Sharon Crary, is an understatement.

Four members, Crary, Nancy Sacks, Larry Schmale, and Marilyn Girdler may really think they are adding support to overseas troops. But, it is just a shame America can not take care of America's own people without sending our men and women in hopes they won't be killed fighting a war in vain.

Just at the bottom of the article, Treats for troops, is a little girl alone, looking down-hearten, and the words, Will you be our friend?, is an example of loneliness. People may not know this, but loneliness is a major disease in America. Supporting 0ur troops overseas doesn't help Americans who need troops in America.

Citizens Protecting Citizens

There are programs of up-most importance in communities to ensure personal and property safety to all citizens. An example would be if a man was holding his wife hostage at gun point, and 9-11 calls come into Sweet Home city police station, Gina Riley responds as the direct correspondent to neighborhood watch programs. Riley is a connection between the police station to call block team captains of such situations. In a phone tree, set up within an average of ten members of neighborhood watch teams, each team member is the go-between to other neighbors in instances of dangers. Team members inform families in the area to warn them of such incidences, especially if neighbors have their children outside.

Organizing connections for neighborhood watch teams, files for neighborhood watch programs are kept in a confidential maintained office. Gina Riley has a locked office located at the Sweet Home city police department. Riley's responsibilities training block team captains requires folders substantial for each neighborhood's team members. Block team captains hold meetings with team members and agendas are reported back to Riley to review. Individuals interested to join neighborhood watch are sought out by notifying Riley in Sweet Home police station.

Sweet Home was settled in 1851. The town was formed into four square blocks. Lumber became into demand by 1940's and Sweet Home became a booming town.

According to the Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce...

In back of Sweet Home police station is an honored sign from when lumber mills still had box cars loaded to ship out lumber cut from Sweet Home's forests. This sign "Sweet Home" introduced passer-byes into the entrance of Sweet Home. Across from the newly built police station is a back field containing an historical sign, well reserved from earlier days. Gina Riley stands proudly in the inheritance of Sweet Home during the passing of the logging industries. In the 1980's, closures of sawmills left Sweet Home still having railroad tracts, but rarely do you see an operating train travel just within city limits. A new railroad crossing gate was built to the west side of the Sweet Home police department, so once in a while a slow train will run a short distance. Sweet Home is now mostly a tourist attraction.

Great inspiration and insight from giving heart

At a glance:
Who: Amy Earls outstanding accomplishments from her many talents
Where: Linn-Benton Community College, Albany, OR
When: Fall, 2009
What: English Education

Amy Earls greets anyone with her caring, cheerful smile and is most helpful in LBCC Bookstore, as retail specialist and works tutoring at LBCC writing center. You don't have to waste your time in deciding want you want from advertisements that does not appeal to you. When you find an advertisement, such as Arby's spending eighty-five million dollars on an oven mitt that talks, you may want to ignore this ad. You may not what to buy a roast beef sandwich from Arby's, so it is a waste of your time.

You might not want to be common. You may want things that are new, what you think is different with fresh ideas. It needs to be about you, what you want, and how you look for things that are worth you while. Seth Godin recorded his speech on TED; Talks Seth Godin On Standing Out, filmed in Feb. 2003 and posted April 2007, in which he is concerned about you. This being said, he also thinks that things are about him (me). Godin states he had a record label entitled, "Sauce", which cause his success to become a failure. (Later, he learned what the problems were and now he wants to share with this with you).

The great Japanese word, "Otaku", means the desire for a group of people who become obsessed about something that interests them, they want to tell their friends, so they will want to become interested, too. When you watch Seth Godin on TED, you will find that not all ideas will be successful. Godlin had a record label to record albums he created about sauce. He found his idea to created music about sauce caused him a failure. He found people with twenty-thousand dollar stereos don't like new music. Then he asked himself, "Who does care?", and what is does take to become successful. He states, "Can you get your idea to spread or not?", and this is to people who listen that they would want to tell their friends. This is the "Otaku", to find a group who listen to tell their friends.

Godin states, "Is it remarkable, because we think it means neat and a cool word and remarkable is worth making a remark about." He states this determines if something is new, fresh, different, and not common, people who care will might tell their friends. One person who might find something not seen before starts by caring about it is. They maybe what they want to spread to their friends. An "Otaku" is the desire to want something to become obsessed that this is the only product that appeals to them. They may want to spread this "Otaku" until enough people talk about this they become obsessed, and have the desire, also.

When you find something boring, this is not what you want. The ideas that spread are not caused by spending eighty-five millions dollars on adverting as Arby's spent on an oven mitt that talks. Arby's hoped people would buy a roast beef sandwich from this kind of adverting. This is the kind of adverting that can be ignored. The kind of products that are appealing are the one's that haven't been noticed before and gets your attention. The kind of designs, like in the fashion business, to get a an idea noticed, Godin asks the question, "Can you get your idea to spread or not." You win when you get your ideas to spread.

The product Silk, which is not milk, got the attention of people because it is not milk. People became interested and the sales of Silk tripled. Jeff Koons changed the economy of a city by building a forty- foot dog out of bushes in New York City. Frank Gehry designed a building that was remarkable and now at city council meetings or where ever, when they want an architect they ask for Gehry. Godin states there are three things about a product he can give advice on. Number one, design is free and will work to sell when recognized. Number two, to be safe is too risky and doesn't work well because it is not remarkable. And three, very good is the worse thing you can do, because it not remarkable.

You can find these ideas viewed on Ted, Talks Seth Godin On Standing Out. This comes from Godin's speech was filmed Feb. 2003 and posted April, 2007. Godin's speech is worth watching. His audience responded by following his sence of humor. He conducted his manner well and Godin was also most interesting. His main appeal was he put himself first for his choices to be about him (me) and he didn't care too much about big money advertising. He likes the "Otaku" that brings himself and people caring enough that this is what they want and not because it is average.

creating a profile

I would find a person which would be interesting for me to learn something different that I don't know. The real top news stories should cover the most importance in news issues and how this will effect people, today and in the future. People in America are being subject to lazy News Networks. Foreign news coverage had been cut by one-half of Networking news. News is approach by a cheap concept to report world news coverage. When the same top twenty-four news stories out of fourteen-thousand are being reported, the same twenty-four news stories are shifted to sound different, but of the same content. This is how Networks in America do little, next to nothing to put costs to report news that would benefit and educate people.

Alisa Miller is the first woman to the TED broadcasting news in the CEO. Miller had a speech filmed in March of 2008 and posted in May 0f 2008. Miller addresses, "How does the news shape the way we see the world." People around the world are being cheated by not being informed. The US attributes seventy-nine percent of world news followed by twenty-one percent of non-US coverage. To set aside all news stories in Feb. of 2007, except Iraq, they were cut down by the coverage in the death of Anna Nicole Smith. Brittney gets more attention with cheap gossip, thus, this keeps cheap Networks spending used towards their reduced costs.

Miller adds facts, maybe a little distorted by "World Land Mass. Even the Smith coverage set aside from all other news stories followed was related ten times greater of any other coverage in Feb. of 2007. The very last victory score would determine Husky's playing abilities from touch down to touch down as one team scored, the other team would come right back in this most exciting, intense game, as one team' score would lead the other. Husky's Homecoming football game is always a special event on their home field. A win or loss game high school students would remember their school at its best.

Crystal Kimball, cheer leader coach, commented, “The team is really awesome. The cheer-leaders are so excited for Sweet Home High football team to go to the play-offs.” Player #41 of the Newport Cubs stated, “I feel good, our guys feel pretty jack-up to play a great game.”

The Husky Homecoming football game sponsored other events. The Sweet Home Dance Team, “The Huskiettes”, hosted quite an unusual program!" The Huskiettes" sold one dollar tickets for a prize of five hundred dollars. Both these girls, Kortney Tuller, with her face completely painted green and along side her, Shalese Mancuso, hurried around before half time to sell as many tickets as they could with other "Huskiettes dance members. The cow pile ticket board is being displayed in the background of the girls to be placed in a pen with a real cow. This extraordinary event, "Real Cow Pile”, the most readable ticket on the board determined by the cow's "poo-droppings " would win that prized ticket. Glen Johnson received two hundred and forth eighty dollars for ten percent of the total ticket sells. The total ticket sells didn't quite meet the full five hundred dollars prize. Tickets sells will help buy customs for the Dance Team, and sponsor an alcohol free senior graduation party.

Both teams tossed touch downs back to back. Many fans for the Cubs traveled nearly one hundred miles from Newport, OR, to cheer on their team. Sweet Home's fans viewed their team in astonishment to the very end and watched the score board extensively. The Newport Cubs scored the first touch down within minutes of the game. The half time score lead Huskey's fifteen to Cubs thirteen. A winning game came within minutes for either team. Husky's held their own by blocking the challenging Newport Cubs. One last touch down for the Cubs would have Newport win the game. This exciting Sweet Home Homecoming football game gave Husky's win twenty eight to Newport Cubs twenty six. Tim Porter, who is the director of the Husky's football team, stated, "this was played by two really good football teams.

Homecoming Sweet Home High's football games are always the most competitive game of the year for Sweet Home. The football players are wanting to play their best to have a win for their home game for their fans, families, friends, and Sweet Home High School they represent. After the game there will be a Homecoming Dance. The Queen and seven princesses are to be honored by the senior class nomination with those involved in senior high school sports. The Priness Court was honored by a dance following the game. Zombies are after your brain, and they are everywhere. Do not become the dead. Kill the zombies before they have time to attack you. Once "Zombies" take a bite of you, you will become dead. Your brain will ooze right out of your head. You can't underestimate the speed of these zombies. One way you can protect yourself, so you may not become the next victim of the "Zombie" attacks, is to expose them to extreme cold to these life-threatening, blood-thirsty creatures. You have to be careful not to use a burning flame. "Zombies" don't eat candy, but they like to dance like Michael Jackson.

Are you prepared? The Zombies are headed south to the U.S.A. from Canada. They might not be here, yet. It will take all the guns and bullets we have, so we can blast off their heads. We have to get the bullets before they have time to get here. And, you have to be careful that it is not a friend or relatives that have turned into Zombies. She states she would like to become an actress. She remarks, Julie Stiles is the first actress who "wowed" me." She loves to sing and dance. She always loved to have quality attention from her family and friends. This is how Stacie loved to attract her family's center stage, enjoy her hopes, and dreams she would love to become a movie star.
Stacie's mother noticed as Stacie would watch television, it was not just as a needless past-time. Her mom became amazed in how Stacie had built her vocabulary to learn vasts amount of advanced words. She became to be so proud of how Stacie could be able to understand the usage of large words. Stacie's knowledge from watching television enhanced her speaking ability. The attraction she was drawn to the actresses and actors attributed to her dreams to become a movie star. She paid greater attention to educational programs. Stacie grew-up around the surrounding areas between Salem and Monmouth, Oregon. She likes to be a home-body and likes to be with her family. If she did have her dreams come true to become a movie star, she states she would become so very home-sick and miss her family. At the same time, she would want to met a variety of interesting people. She wants to broaden a "new" family as she becomes a little more adaptable when she does leaves her parent,s home. Stacie loves to have family surroundings as her own parents are most important to her. Stacie, though, doesn't want to get too far away from her home. She gets very home-sick. She is already getting very nervous, even to think about leaving her parent's home where she in now living. Stacie is currently Linn-Benton Community College in, Albany, OR, fall 2009. One of her classes is News Reporting and Writing. Stacie also adds, "Some actors may fade away, but Clint Eastwood is still going strong for making his movies."
Stacie is wanting to attend University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Students may not have realized this change. DPP allows for students who are enrolled at OSU and LBCC accepted in the DPP to be taking credit classes on both campuses.

At OSU and LBCC, as in some cases, the same credit classes could be offered at either OSU or LBCC campus, or visa-versa. The transition with OSU and LBCC in the DPP enrollment gives students advantages and enhances resources with greater, outstanding educational needs for DPP students. The (DPP) is specifically for Linn-Benton Community College and Oregon State University in partnership with each school. Other community colleges have duel enrollment with OSU, but DPP is specific to OSU and LBCC students enrolled in DPP earning their degrees.

Students can find out more information by going to T213 on the 2nd floor at Linn-Benton Community College to talk with Jeanine Howell, Program Assistant, in the Educational Partnerships Office, call, and/or email. The DPP can be set-up by an application, via OSU. Applications are at both LBCC and OSU websites. Students attend an orientation and with a quick admit are entered into LBCC system as a DPP student with certain requirements. Once students are accepted by OSU as a DPP student, then they are entered into the LBCC system as a DPP student, as well. Jeanine will represent LBCC students, on site at OSU, during their orientation days and to assist those already in DPP. She will also help students who are not in the DPP with the application and the quick admit into the LBCC.

Steve Anderson is a student at OSU in the DPP, and a graduate at LBCC in the spring of 2009. Steve is now employed as a tutor in the TRIO Program at LBCC. Steve found it is easier at OSU, when he enrolled as a DPP student and he states there is more time when he needs counseling and advisement. As Steve says, “Great Program and makes it easier to go from LBCC to OSU on the Degree Partnership Program”.

The advantages at LBCC with the DPP are the tuition costs are less, there are smaller classes, and resources are available for LBCC students at OSU, as well. Financial Aid is applied at both LBCC and OSU. For example, if a DPP student is taking six credits at LBCC and six credits at OSU, Financial Aid distributes for 12 credits. After the first two years at LBCC, an approved student in DPP will be admitted to OSU as a junior. The DPP student has a smoother transition from LBCC to OSU, in addition to the valuable resources DPP offers students. LBCC students can live in dorms at OSU, even if not attending classes at OSU.

Another great advantage is the Benton Center Campus in Corvallis, where LBCC classes are offered for DPP students. Other great advantages to enroll in the DPP with all the rich benefits is once DPP students are approved, but are inactive for ten terms, admissions may re-activate students in the Degree Partnership Program.

Jeanine Howell, as well attended the DPP. Jeanine is enthusiastic about this program. She expresses, “DPP is a wonderful program. It really works for LBCC/OSU students! I can say this from experience, because I did The Degree Partnership Program myself!”

The "Sentinel / Bouncer"

Rich Stoneberg has a motto he refers as "Set the pace and they follow." Stoneberg may be found outside the front door of the LBCC Bookstore. Students are lined-up to collect their books for the up-coming term. Stoneberg works part-time during the busiest days at LBCC. Last Friday was a relaxing day for Stoneberg, after he survived another mad-dash of LBCC students, leading them to securely purchase their books, always needed for their LBCC classes.

Stonebery has great knowledge of sports. His favorite sport is basket ball. Stonebery states, "I like the flow of the action." He considers himself as a Sports Nut. Stonebery has followed Red Sox football and adds Jacoby Ellesberry is a local football player and graduate from Oregon State University.

Stonebery enjoys watching baseball and get intensely interested in great baseball games, especially likes watching players steal bases. Stonebery can recall outstanding details observed in the sport games he follows.

Other interests Stonebery has he enjoys is taking motorcycle road trips. Stonebery has taken at times three hundred and fifty miles motorcycle week-end road trips within the country-side.

Stonebery has worked at LBCC part-time for ten years. He has served as security guard at OSU working twelve straight hour shifts at nights and seven days a week until job would end.

Stonebery has held multiple jobs including self-employment. He considers himself to be firm with guidelines, and holds patience with politeness. Stonebery is a very respectable man and an asset with people who know him. He enjoys himself as a people person.

One can see Stonebery keeps in his youth by all the activities he enjoys, and again, he adds, "Set the pace and they follow."

Smoker's need rights

Everyone has little or some kind of habits they enjoy, that is their choice. Some people like food, like style-clothes, or whatever, but don't like to be "told" there are going to be limits. So, the person who likes certain foods, really don 't like to be "told" that they can't have their choice. Then, when this won't work, whoever is saying, this is bad for you, so we will take away that right and higher the price. That is what is happening to smokers.

my first blog post

I am being descrimated against having a service animal at my apartment, just because a person is afraid of dogs.
